Community Meetings to Discuss Start Times and Full Day Kindergarten

The Lower Merion Board of School Directors and staff members are investigating two important and interconnected possible initiatives to see if and how they may be implemented in the Lower Merion School District. These two investigations concern 1) Healthy Start Times and 2) Full-Day Kindergarten.

To ensure that all interested community members have an opportunity to learn more about these investigations, there will be community meetings to share updates and answer questions. Please plan to attend the meeting for your elementary school catchment area, so that no meeting becomes overcrowded.

Have You Paid your HSA Dues Yet?
Why HSA Dues are Important to our School!

Paying HSA dues supports our school, students and staff in many ways.   All students received a t-shirt to wear on Spirit Days and an Assignment book from the HSA at the start of the school year.  Dues also provide for Staff Appreciation week meals and gifts, yearbooks for students on free/reduced lunch, and other school wide events throughout the school year. The HSA has wonderful things planned for the rest of the school year, but we need your financial support to make them happen.

Please consider paying your dues now and if you're able, please consider contributing a little more towards the HSA to help fund for those families who may be experiencing financial hardships. Suggested Dues are $50 per student.

Currently, 51% of Welsh Valley Families have contributed to the HSA.  Our goal for this year is 70% participation in order to support all of the wonderful activities the HSA has planned for the Welsh Valley staff and students! You can pay your HSA dues via MySchoolBucks.

Community News
Lower Merion-Narberth Caring Co-Op

The LMNCC was born out of volunteer work at the Narberth Community Food Bank, (now Narberth Community Services), where we saw first-hand the community’s need for support in areas other than food.  Lower Merion-Narberth Caring Co-Op's goal is to help families and individuals in our community fulfill other basic needs such as clothing and goods and services that support social and emotional well being.

We have two short term projects on our agenda:

  1. A Coat Give to benefit both children and adults
  2. The continuation of our Holiday Halo project, which provides (small) gifts for families to give to each other during the winter holidays and seniors living alone who might not have other holiday connections

Please make your school families aware of these two services and have them get in touch with us if they are interested in either receiving coats or Holiday Halo gifts. Families can email us at lmncarecoop@gmail.com or get in touch by going to our website: lmncc.weebly.com
